Senior Accounting Officer

Role Description

Take senior ownership of the accounting cycle for a Kingston retail and trading group, with responsibility for reporting accuracy and controls.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close and prepare management accounts.

  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable and the junior accounting team.

  • Perform and review reconciliations across bank, inventory and intercompany accounts.

  • Prepare GCT, payroll statutories and other statutory returns.

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over cash, stock and purchasing.

  • Prepare audit schedules and support the external audit.

Role Responsibilities

  • Five years in accounting with at least two at senior or supervisory level.

  • ACCA part qualified or better, or a degree in accounting with strong experience.

  • Retail, distribution or trading environment experience is a distinct advantage.

  • Strong accounting system and advanced Excel skills.

  • Working knowledge of Jamaican tax and statutory requirements.
